The Newcomer Recognition Awards is funded entirely through community sponsorship. The Simcoe County LIP appreciates the support of local businesses, organizations, and individuals who make financial and in-kind contributions.

As a Corporate Partner of the Newcomer Recognition Awards, your organization can receive regional recognition of its support of inclusive and welcoming communities. Various levels of sponsorship are available.

Nominate someone who makes a difference


Nominations for the 2024 Newcomer Recognition Awards are now open!

Click here to nominate an individual, organization, group, or business. Nominations are due on Friday, September 20, 2024.


    • Immigrant Mentor
      An immigrant who has invested time and energy to support positive experiences for other immigrants in Simcoe County. 
    • Inclusive Housing Practices
      A property owner who demonstrates a commitment to providing safe and affordable housing for newcomers in Simcoe County. 

    • Service Excellence
      A representative of a funded immigrant service delivery organization that exceeds their employment responsibilities to enhance client outcomes and opportunities. 

    • Small Business Owner
      An immigrant who has achieved success in the development/operation of a new (less than five years) business or entrepreneurial venture in Simcoe County.

    • Teaching Excellence
      A Simcoe County educator who consistently incorporates multiculturalism in one or more of the following: planning and/or policy development, curriculum, community relations, school culture. 
    • Youth Community Champion
      A youth 25 years of age or younger who strengthens community awareness about, and advocates for, newcomer equity and the celebration of cultural diversity in Simcoe County. 



    • Career Mobility
      An employer that provides growth opportunities for internationally-educated professionals to improve labour force outcomes. 

    • Culturally Diverse Workforce
      A business or organization that has developed a culturally diverse workforce through strategic recruitment. 
      • Ethnocultural Group
        An ethnocultural or faith-based group that has invested time and energy to support positive experiences for immigrants in Simcoe County. 

      • Newcomer Inclusive Service Delivery
        A business or organization that has implemented and marketed innovative programming that reflects the needs of immigrant residents. 
      • Welcoming Work Environment
        A business or organization that has taken steps to provide a welcoming work environment for immigrants.



      • Fundraising Champion
        An individual or group who actively engages in fundraising to improve immigrant outcomes in the community. 
      • Immigrant Artist
        An immigrant artist or group whose art has been recognized with a degree of excellence or with outputs considered to be of high quality. An artist or group who has positively impacted or contributed to the art of others and has positively promoted the immigrant experience.
