County opens application process for new affordable housing rental units in Bradford West Gwillimbury


Midhurst/July 2, 2024 – The Simcoe County Housing Corporation is announcing that online applications for residential rentals at the Bradford West Gwillimbury affordable housing building have opened as of July 2, 2024. Applications are now available online and may be submitted at simcoe.ca/BWG-development prior to July 16, 2024.

The multi-use development includes 50 mixed affordable residential rental units for families and seniors. The building offers a mix of one, two and three-bedroom units. Units follow a universal design to age-in-place, ensuring this will be a comfortable place to call home for seniors and older adults. The building will house a County of Simcoe Social and Community Services Office and community agencies including the Simcoe County District School Board and Ontario Works on its ground floor for easy access to these crucial services for the community.

The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury generously donated the lands at 125 Simcoe Road to the County of Simcoe for the purpose of building affordable housing within the community. This newly-built affordable housing is located within walking distance to the Town’s future civic plaza, downtown commercial amenities, elementary schools, ample green space parks, and transit including the GO Station.

Well-designed housing such as the Bradford West Gwillimbury affordable housing building provides safety, health and affordability. It is an investment in our community. This new low-rise building will create an additional 50 units in the area, allowing more people to have stable and affordable housing where they can continue to contribute to their community for themselves and future generations.

The building’s first residents are expected to move in during throughout the late fall of 2024.

About the application process

The application process is based on first-come-first-served and applications are subject to approval by the Simcoe County Housing Corporation, as per their guidelines for affordable rentals. Applications require online submission on our website at simcoe.ca/BWG-development.

In order to be considered a complete application, supporting documents must be provided, including copies of Canadian Birth Citizenship (or Landed Immigrant or Refugee Status) for each person listed on the application as well as a 2023 Notice of Assessment for all household members 16 years of age and above who are not in school full time. All supporting documents must be provided prior to July 16, 2024 in order for the application to be considered complete.
