Paramedic Services Week
Each year in May, the County of Simcoe, along with the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada, recognizes Paramedic Services Week across Canada. National Paramedic Services Week celebrates the caring professional paramedics in Canada. Local recognition of this week showcases the integral role County of Simcoe Paramedic Services play in keeping our community safe, healthy and strong through community-based programs, training and educational initiatives.
In commemoration, Warden Basil Clarke has proclaimed May 18 to 25, 2025 as National Paramedic Services Week and this year’s theme, “We Care. For Everyone” shines a light on paramedics’ tireless efforts assisting and supporting those in need, often in challenging and high-pressure situations.
Paramedic for a Day Contest
During Paramedic Services Week (May 18 to 25) one talented Simcoe County student will be announced as the winning entrant of the Paramedic for a Day Contest. This lucky individual will be picked up at their school, and sworn in before they are treated to a mock scenario, presented with a First-Aid Kit and take part in a photo opportunity.
Grade 5 and 6 students interested in participating must prepare a short essay (maximum 250 words) demonstrating “We Care. For Everyone”. The winner will be chosen based on their entry.
The student’s photograph will taken during the event. Photographs and video submission may be used, re-used, published and republished in whole or in part, individually or in conjunction with other individuals’ images for purposes of promotion, advertising or journalism in any medium, including, but not limited to, printed materials, staff brochures/communications, photographic displays, video footage, media reports, published on the County of Simcoe’s corporate website, intranet and digital panels.
- Deadline for submission is May 1, 2025 at 8 p.m. Please email your entry to paramedic4aday@simcoe.ca.
- Be sure to include your name, your parent(s)/guardian’s name, home address, and phone number, and what school you attend.
- Winner must be available on May 13, 2025 for the Paramedic Services Activities.
- All entries become property of County of Simcoe Paramedic Services.
