County road 43 slope stabilization

This project involves the stabilization of a roadway embankment on County Road 43 (Snow Valley Road), located east of George Parkway. The existing embankment has been identified as unstable due to the steep slope descending toward the adjacent creek.

To address this issue, the project will include the installation of a new HDPE culvert extension and placement of engineered earth fill to regrade and flatten the embankment slope. These improvements aim to enhance slope stability, reduce the risk of erosion, and protect the long-term integrity of the roadway infrastructure.

Timelines (subject to change as project proceeds)

Construction will begin on August 5th, 2025 and anticipated to be completed by end of August.

Impacts to drivers and neighbours

On Friday, August 15, County Road 43 will be closed between County Road 53 and George Johnson Road from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. A single designated detour route will be in place. Local access will remain available via County Road 43 (Snow Valley Road).

Please follow all detour and advisory signage and take extra care when travelling near the work zone. To view the closure notice, please click here.

Traffic impacts are expected to be minimal, as most of the work will take place off the travelled portion of the roadway. However, occasional lane closures may be required, which could result in minor delays for motorists passing through the area.
