County of Simcoe and area partners showcase local newcomers’ Work in Simcoe County success stories

Midhurst/January 18, 2023 – The County and area partners, including member municipalities, the cities of Barrie and Orillia and several supporting partners, are working together to promote the region as a great place to live and work. This year’s Work in Simcoe County campaign is part of a collaborative effort to support recruitment and retention among area businesses.

“The County continues to work hard to support our businesses, promote our economic opportunities and support job seekers in finding long-term employment in Simcoe County,” said County of Simcoe Warden Basil Clarke. “We know from our outreach that recruitment and retention are key areas of focus for our businesses. This year’s Work in Simcoe County campaign focuses on these issues and demonstrates the growing diversity of Simcoe County and our workforce.”

Made in Simcoe County has run annually and features the people who make our businesses so successful and the wide range of products produced locally. This year, the campaign highlights perspectives of newcomers living and working in the region in key sectors such as advanced manufacturing, engineering, entrepreneurship, tourism and agricultural industries. Social media advertising will promote the regions natural beauty and year-round recreation along with local success stories, including international students from Georgian College and Lakehead University. The campaign is featured across a variety of platforms including FacebookInstagramLinkedInYouTube and TikTok. To watch our video, visit youtube.com/CountyofSimcoe.

The County’s Work in Simcoe County site is a great tool for job seekers and businesses to connect and identify opportunities. In December, www.workinsimcoecounty.cahosted 9,073 active job openings in the region in various fields, including sales and service occupations; trades, transport and equipment operators and related occupations; business, finance and administration occupations; health occupations and more. This year’s Work in Simcoe County campaign will promote our web resources and job fairs on social media and help link job seekers to these vacant positions.
