Celebrate Museum Month this May

Midhurst/April 28, 2023 – Warden Basil Clarke has proclaimed May as Museum Month, an opportunity to celebrate the vital role museums have in honouring our collective heritage, while offering a great way to discover the unique history of our region.

“Museums preserve and exhibit our cultural, artistic, historical and scientific history, helping to teach, inspire and connect communities,” said Warden Basil Clarke. “With so many things to see and do, this Museum Month is the perfect time for residents to visit the Simcoe County Museum and local museums across the region.”

Founded in 1930, the Simcoe County Museum is home to more than 30,000 artifacts, along with 16 heritage and display buildings, and a host of exhibits, programs and activities, including:

  • Museum Mini Explorers – An interactive program with games and activities specially designed for toddlers and caregivers. Take a unique adventure and discover new parts of the museum with your little one each time you visit. Pre-registration is required. Runs until the last week of June.
  • Wheels and Tracks – In partnership with the Historical Construction Equipment Association of Canada, this event brings antique construction equipment to life with working demonstrations of bulldozers, steam rollers, crushers, cranes and more! This event is scheduled for June 10 and 11 this year.
