County of Simcoe battery collection charging ahead

Runs November 7-11, 2022

Midhurst/October 31, 2022 – Curbside battery collection is back. Collection crews are hitting curbs across the County of Simcoe and City of Barrie November 7-11, 2022 to roundup used batteries from households across the region.

Battery bags with instructions were mailed to households in October. Batteries can also be placed in clear, sealed bags. Residents can set out battery bags on their regularly scheduled collection day, during the week of November 7-11. Battery bags must be placed on top of cart lids for County of Simcoe collections or in a visible location beside recycling boxes in the City of Barrie.

The program is for single-use batteries only, including type AAA, AA, A, C, D, 9 volt and button batteries commonly used for hearing aids and watches. Rechargeable batteries, cell phone and laptop batteries, car, industrial and battery packs are NOT accepted in the program but may be taken to a municipal household hazardous waste facility for safe, free disposal.
