Simcoe County Transit Service Delivery review
Simcoe County has partnered with Dillon Consulting Limited to conduct a review of transit services provided in the County to support the County’s growing community needs.
The Transit Service Delivery Review (TSDR) will assess the existing transit services in the County and explore the needs and priorities of the region. Public and stakeholder consultation is important to help identify new services and models for transit service throughout the County, including how to create a more integrated network. We want to hear from everyone – no matter how, or if, you use transit in the County today.
Background

Currently, six of the County’s 16 member municipalities, as well as Barrie and Orillia, operate their own transit service. The County also operates a separate inter-community service known as LINX Transit, which consists of six routes that provide connections to the County’s local transit systems and major urban hubs including hospitals, educational institutions, GO Transit, Ontario Northland and employment centres. Currently, LINX Transit connects to seven of the 16 local municipalities in the County, as well as Barrie and Orillia.
Since the beginning of service in 2018, LINX Transit’s ridership has exceeded expectations and grown considerably. Users of LINX Transit have continually voiced support for and interest in seeing service expanded beyond connecting the County’s communities. Furthermore, in 2024 the County prepared a new Transportation Master Plan and received significant feedback about transit across the county, including the idea of moving towards a regional transit system. Together, these factors led Simcoe County Council to initiate this review of its current service with the goal of establishing a new vision for the future of transit in the County.
