Caregiver Rest & Renewal Program

Taking care of yourself is part of caring for others

Caring for someone you love is meaningful, but it can also be emotionally and physically trying. The County of Simcoe’s long‑term care homes are here to help. Each of our four homes offer two respite beds designed to give caregivers a well‑deserved break.

While you take time to rest, spend time with family, or catch up on life, your loved one receives attentive, professional care in a safe and supportive setting. Our trained staff provide the same level of warmth, care and support we offer every resident, ensuring peace of mind for you and comfort for them.

How to Apply

This Program is administered through Ontario Health atHome. A care coordinator is tasked with assessing needs to determine if a short-stay option is right for you and your loved one. An assessment completed by your doctor, nurse practitioner or other primary care provider is also required to determine eligibility. If you are eligible, you may choose up to five long-term care homes.

If you are not eligible for the short-stay program, your care coordinator will help you find other services in the community to help meet your convalescent or respite needs .

For more details about this program, or to apply, please visit your local Ontario Health atHome office or connect with the Short‑Stay Placement Coordinator in your area:
