Midhurst/August 6, 2026 – Site work has begun on the County of Simcoe’s newest Paramedic Post, located at 240/246 Cundles Road East in the City of Barrie, marking an important step in strengthening emergency response across the region.
County Council endorsed a long-term Paramedic Services facilities plan designed to improve response times and support growing communities. The plan uses a combination of traditional paramedic stations and a hub and post model in higher density areas. Under this model, a central hub, the Barrie Simcoe Emergency Services Campus located on Fairview Road, is supported by smaller, strategically located posts that position crews closer to where calls occur and residential growth is occurring.
This Cundles Road East site was selected following a detailed review of call volumes, travel patterns, and service coverage needs. This location will allow Paramedic Services to improve emergency response times in Barrie and surrounding high demand areas, while also positioning crews more efficiently and reducing travel distances between calls. The development of posts also provides budgetary efficiencies, with smaller property needs and reduced construction footprints.
Site work began in July with the demolition of existing structures on the property. Construction of the new post is expected to start in spring 2027 pending final approvals from the City and County.
