Showcases new affordable rental housing units in Bradford West Gwillimbury

Midhurst/November 22, 2024 – Earlier today, County of Simcoe officials joined with representatives from the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury to open the doors to the County’s newest affordable rental housing build in Bradford West Gwillimbury. Community partners and media received a “sneak peek” into the building while raising awareness for National Housing Day before the building welcomes its first residential tenants in the coming weeks.

“We are truly excited to celebrate National Housing Day at our newest build in Bradford West Gwillimbury, which will soon open its doors and create a place to call ‘home’ for 50 families and seniors. Seeing it here today, nearly complete, it is inspiring to walk around and see Council’s vision from just a couple of years ago come to fruition. As I entered the doors for the first time earlier today, I couldn’t help but to imagine the futures that this building will create for so many people in South Simcoe and the impact that it will make on their lives.”

~ County Councillor Stephanie MacLellan, on behalf of Warden and County Council

The celebration today was hosted at the County’s newest affordable housing build in Bradford West Gwillimbury, built on land generously donated by the Town for affordable housing.

“The Town of BWG is proud to mark the opening of a new facility that will provide safe and supportive housing for many individuals in need. Affordable housing is the foundation of a strong and inclusive community, and we are dedicated to expanding opportunities for as many deserving people as possible to find a place to call home. This milestone highlights the incredible progress we can achieve when all levels of government come together to build a brighter, more equitable future for all.”
