Midhurst/November 28, 2024 – The County of Simcoe is proud to announce the launch of its new Affordable Housing Dashboard, now available on https://open.simcoe.ca. This innovative tool is designed to help users explore and understand housing trends within their communities through a comprehensive selection of population insights and affordable housing metrics, available at the local-municipal level (census sub-division).
“The launch of the Affordable Housing Dashboard marks yet another significant step forward in our commitment to informed decision-making in regard to affordable housing,” said Warden Basil Clarke. “By providing accessible and comprehensive data, we empower our community to better understand and address the housing challenges we continue to face. This dashboard will prove extremely useful in helping everyone in the County to gain a better understanding of our housing market.”
The Affordable Housing Dashboard aims to support elected officials’, civil servants, media, local service providers, academics and residents in answering critical questions about the local housing continuum. By providing access to key data indicators, the dashboard helps users assess the health of the housing market through the following questions:
- Is the supply of housing keeping up with demand?
- How affordable is housing?
- How much choice is there in the housing market?
- What is the level of Core Housing Need?
This dashboard is a County-specific replication of a previous design by the Community Data Program (CDP), and we extend our gratitude to the CDP for their invaluable contribution to making this dashboard a reality. Data sources include Statistics Canada and the Community Program Data.
The dashboard itself is now live and can be accessed at https://open.simcoe.ca
