Joint Compliance Audit Committee Recruitment
Serve your community by becoming a member of the Joint Compliance Audit Committee for the 2026-2030 term of Council.
The County of Simcoe is currently recruiting up to seven (7) qualified volunteers to make a significant contribution to their community by being appointed to the Joint Compliance Audit Committee. As set out in the Municipal Elections Act, the County has formed a Compliance Audit Committee jointly with its local municipalities and the City of Orillia.
The Joint Compliance Audit Committee is responsible for reviewing applications submitted by electors who on reasonable grounds believe that a candidate or third party advertiser may have contravened the campaign finance rules of the Municipal Elections Act. The Committee further reviews any reports of donation overcontributions submitted by local Clerks. The Committee is responsible for determining if applications will proceed towards an audit or legal action. Following an initial meeting in winter 2026, the Committee convenes as required when applications are received. Committee members will receive per diem compensation for their time.
To qualify to be appointed to the Committee, applicants must reside within one of the sixteen (16) member municipalities or the City of Orillia. The following are not eligible to be a member of the Committee:
- Employees or officers of any of the local municipalities;
- Members of Council for the local municipalities;
- Any persons who are candidates in the 2026 municipal election; and
