Simcoe County is once again reaching out to immigrants and newcomers to learn how we can continue to make a positive difference in our communities.


About this survey

This survey has used a collaborative approach, with community member support during its design phase. This survey has reviewed with ethnocultural groups in our community.

The County of Simcoe has an internal ethics process that has been followed during survey development. To conduct research, it must be approved by the corporate ethics committee.

Postcard Distribution and Social Media Promotion: A postcard featuring a QR code that links directly to the survey webpage has been created by the County of Simcoe for distribution. The survey is also being promoted on social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, with geotargeted advertisements to reach specific audiences across Simcoe County.

Community Partnership: The Simcoe County Local Immigration Partnership (SCLIP) has established a promotional partnership with the Ethnic Mosaic Alliance. As part of this agreement, survey ambassadors will be hired to promote the survey and distribute postcards within multiple ethnocultural, and faith-based organizations listed in the existing community inventory.

Survey Distribution Locations: Ambassadors and community partners will distribute survey Promotional Posters in locations frequently visited by immigrants, including:

  • Ethnic restaurants
  • Ethnocultural and multicultural community events
  • Ethnic grocery stores

  • Simcoe County Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) Council

  • Child, Youth and Family Services Coalition (CYFS) of Simcoe County

Based on the 2021 census, most people spoke one of the languages listed below. The survey will be available in several languages, including:

  • Arabic
  • English
  • Farsi
  • French
  • Mandarin
  • Portuguese
  • Punjabi (Panjabi)
  • Spanish

The survey was launched during late spring/early summer to ensure that as many responses as possible are received, allowing for increased distribution during various cultural events across Simcoe County.
