Simcoe County Museum celebrates Museum Month

Midhurst/May 27, 2026 – The Simcoe County Museum proudly celebrated Museum Month throughout May, inviting visitors to explore the stories, artifacts, and experiences that showcase the rich heritage of Simcoe County. Museum Month is an opportunity to highlight the important role museums play in preserving local history and fostering community connection.

As part of its ongoing commitment to innovation and accessibility, the Museum is currently undergoing significant renovations, including the development of the new Matthews Innovation Gallery alongside broader upgrades to the facility. The Matthews Innovation Gallery will serve as a modern exhibition space designed to enhance interactive learning, support dynamic programming, and showcase exhibits that connect visitors with the stories of how innovation has shaped Simcoe County.

On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, County Councillors visited the Museum for a guided walkthrough of the renovation progress. The visit provided an opportunity to see firsthand how these enhancements will support the Museum’s long-term vision as a leading cultural destination in the region.

The Museum is open to the public while renovations are ongoing. For more information about museum hours, exhibitions, and programming, please visit museum.simcoe.ca.
